Receding gums are one of the most common dental problems that lead to exposed roots.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The gum or gingiva is well-vascularized tissue that is attached to the jaw bone and that covers the roots of the teeth, protecting them from external influence. Gum recession can affect one or more teeth, presenting not only a health problem but also an aesthetic one.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It is important to distinguish whether gum recession is the result of inflammatory processes that occur as part of periodontal disease, or whether it is the result of overly aggressive, horizontal brushing that leads to non-inflammatory gum recession.<\/p>\n

  • High-positioned frenulum<\/li>\n
  • Aggressive and poor tooth brushing<\/li>\n
  • Consumption of tobacco products<\/li>\n
  • Abnormal bite<\/li>\n
  • Inadequate prosthetic treatments<\/li>\n
  • Diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and hormonal disorders<\/li>\n
  • Aging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
